Over the course of the industrial training as an internship student in PEERS Consult, I have gained new experience where I have learned a lot of new things especially focusing on the field of Town Planning in Malaysia, as a young bright future professional urban planner. It was an eye-opener on real working environment and after being expose me directly to the reality of working as a urban planner even during my practical training. It was extremely valuable and it has taught me to experience new different set of skills that is management skills, hard and soft skills that are cannot be learned in typical classes. In addition I realized that there are a major different between classes and in an office environment. Industrial training taught me on how to interact with colleague, how to interact with the clients, the communication between team members and sub consultant and the planning process of making State Structure Plan and District Local Plan.

 

Throughout my internship training, I have gain exposure to systematic work coordination in an environment that consists of friendly colleague that is always willing to guide and provide advice for the betterment of myself and the company. It is always in great pleasure that during the span of undergoing internship training at PEERS Consult, I was under the direct supervision of Mr Chhoa and Miss Fira where both of them are extremely professional and dedicated to their works. Both of them can be said as a veteran within the town planning field. Throughout the course of my internship I was heavily supervised by them and taught on how to provide and be at best all the time.

 

As someone who had goals at the start of internship, I hope that my presence and knowledge during my studies and capabilities that I have learned from my classes can actually be easily integrated into the working environment but I was being humbled by the high professionalism and their work ethics. And as I was struggling and needed to learn new knowledge in order to cope with the high standard of the company they help and guide me. And eventually I turn over a new leaf and trying to gain as much knowledge and experiences as I can for my future endeavor to make me a better urban planner. The variety of new knowledge that I gain from my industrial training on the process and new techniques can be applied to my future final project.  To be honest a lot of benefits that I got from the company during my internship. In many ways, this training helps me in gaining authentic experience working in this fields besides that learning new knowledge about the management of a company.

 

Lastly, I have high hopes with my future after attending my internship training as in I hope that all of my struggle and learning during the training will eventually came to materialization in the future. It could also be said that, by the end of this internship training, the goals and objectives has been successfully achieved as I finally managed to adapt with the new working environment along with a supportive and professional colleagues, mentor and boss. There were a lot of new things that I have gained in town planning both physically, spiritually and ethically, this firm truly taught me well and making me to be a better urban planning student.
